The bottom line isn’t official yet, but the 2009 A Taste of Rim Country chefs competition easily raised more than $5,000 for the Library Friends of Payson.
“It was the best one we’ve ever had,” said Terry Morris, director of the Payson Public Library, which will benefit from the event.
Coordinated by Bessie Tucker, A Taste of Rim Country featured a dozen presenters. The People’s Choice Award went to Kevin DeWitt and the Zane Grey Steakhouse at Kohl’s Ranch.
In announcing the award, Fred Carpenter, who provided the music for the evening and handled the master of ceremonies duties, one vote gave DeWitt the win.
Everyone — participants and guests alike — was a winner at the March 7 event at the library.
“It was a wonderful event. All the chefs had a variety of items and I did not hear a single complaint all evening. People were very pleased with all of it,” Morris said.
Additional details were not yet available and will be published at a later date.
