Storms Have Knocked Down Many Trees, Collapsed A Carport

Last week I mentioned how warm the weather had been. I was a bit premature. This past weekend, the temperature plummeted enough that the hummingbird feeder I had put up the beginning of last week was completely frozen. A few of my neighbors had spotted the little hummers. I have not spotted one yet, but it is time for them to migrate here for the summer.

I took a ride around the village recently and noticed that there are many trees that have fallen down from the heavy snowfall that we had a few weeks ago. Almost every residence had some damage with broken limbs or trees destroyed altogether. We lost a mock plum tree and a juniper tree and my husband had to cut several branches off other trees. The Coley residence in Tonto Village II, lost a carport, it collapsed from the heavy snow.

Two events are happening this weekend that might be of interest to Tonto Village. The first one is a one year anniversary celebration at the Payson Habitat for Humanity “Restore.” The celebration starts at 9 a.m., Friday, March 13. The phone number is 474-4247 if you need any more information.

My husband and I have been very lucky in finding bargains on many items that we needed for the remodeling of our cabin. If you have never been to their “Restore,” it is located at 403 S. Ash Street.

The next event is the Mogollon Health Alliance Women’s Wellness Forum on Saturday, March 14. I have attended this event for about six or seven years and I have enjoyed every one of them. It is a great forum for the gals in Payson and the surrounding area to come together with new and fresh ideas for making your life as a women more meaningful. If you haven’t signed up yet, call the office at 472-2588 for more details.

March 16 is Tonto Village III resident, Gary Martin’s birthday. Gary shares the day with Jenny Wegener of National Bank. Another employee of National Bank, Neloa Beeler, will celebrate her birthday on March 17. We have known Jenny since our days in Yuma, she was the branch manager in the Foothills. The tellers are so very helpful, but Jenny, who is the manager at our Payson branch and Neloa have been so very helpful to us. A very special happy birthday to you. Chuck Rutherford, who is the brother of Pat Watson, shares a birthday with Royce O’Donnell of Mead Ranch on March 18.

June Milke of Tonto Village III has her big day on March 20. March 22 will be Gayle Fitch’s celebration day. Gayle is on the Hellsgate Fire Board and she is a fine example of residents who stay involved with their community. Happy birthday to all of you.

If I have not mentioned your birthday and you would like to see it in my column, call me at 478-4575.
