Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Are you wearing a bit of the green? The trees are — is there anything prettier than the lacy green of new foliage on the willow trees around town? Where I grew up in northern Wisconsin, we were always overjoyed to see the pussy willows popping out — that meant it really was spring.
Our Library Friends monthly newsletter arrived last week, unsealed and stamped on the front “Opened for inspection by USPS” in big, black letters. Wonder what that was about: I can’t think of anything less threatening than a library newsletter.
Congratulations to Library Friends president Linda Lanctot, who recently received the library’s Nan Pyle Distinguished Service Award for outstanding work on behalf of the library.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
