Two illegal aliens were arrested Tuesday night after they swerved over the center line heading southbound from Pine on Highway 87, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office reported.
“They crossed the center line and almost hit our deputy head on,” said Sgt. George Scott.
Officers arrested Daniel Alvarado Dimas, 21, and Francisco Javier Guzman, 20, on charges of false identification, and booked them into the Payson jail shortly after midnight.
“They had these ID cards which were obviously forged,” Scott said. Both of the Mexican identification cards the men presented contained the same fingerprint on the back, which matched neither man.
“It looks very official when you first look at it,” Scott said. Upon closer examination, however, officers discovered the picture marked the only difference.
The men drove a van that was registered to one of Guzman’s relatives, according to police. The van will be impounded for 30 days.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
