The Rim Country Optimist Club would like to thank the Arizona Game and Fish Department for all its help and all the merchants, donors and participants of the second annual Fishing Festival. The event was well attended with Game and Fish registering 536 participants, of these 270 were 19 or younger. Three registered from California, with representatives from White River, Pine, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Apache Junction, Tempe, Glendale, Gilbert, Mesa, Coolidge, Chandler and Star Valley.
The first 250 registered received a Fishing Festival cap with a clever design. Game and Fish furnished the rods, reels and bait. The fishing was very good. Many of the children caught several nice trout. Other catches were bass, crappie and bluegill. Sizes ranged from a 3-ounce bluegill to a 2-pound, 13-ounce trout.
The Optimist food booth offered tasty and filling breakfast burritos as well as hot dogs, brats, hamburgers and cheese crisps. The Christian school handled the soda concession.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
