Name: Lynn Thomason
School and subjects taught: Volunteer with Julia Randall kindergarten students, making arts and crafts
Years volunteering: Three years at JRE, but I used to volunteer at Payson Elementary School, too.
Why do you volunteer? Just because I like to and I like to do crafts and I like to give back to the community.
Personal motto / words of wisdom: Be the best you can be
Family: I’m a widow but I have one son and he’s a state highway patrolman. My daughter-in-law teaches at PES, and I have three grandchildren.
Pet peeve: People that complain all the time
Favorite hobby or leisure activity: I do crafts and I sew and I just got a new embroidery machine. And I read.
Why Payson? We moved here a long time ago to get away from the rat race of the big city. I just enjoy it. It’s quiet and pretty and there are four seasons.
In school, who was your favorite teacher and why? I think my favorite teacher was in fourth grade. I was shy and she called me up and made me the librarian. So that was pretty nice.
What was your favorite subject in school and why? Math. My mother always talked about finances with me.
What was your favorite year in school and why? Seventh grade because we had one semester with sewing and other semester with shop. I enjoyed learning shop. We did bookends.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
