Almost Too Many Area Events To Keep Up With

This past week has been extremely busy. There were meetings Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, besides dominoes on Wednesday afternoon. Activity again picked up on Saturday.

The Wildlife Fair at Green Valley Park was filled with families and kids enjoying the reptiles, including a giant-sized python on display, they even got to touch it. Ugh!

Many of the kids were fishing in the lake, and really enjoying themselves. I even looked at the live snakes, which is something I can’t even watch on television, but I needed to know just what kinds of snakes to watch out for, especially when I am fishing.

Saturday afternoon I attended a wedding shower for Todd Orr, son of Roy and Marge Tolby of Tonto Village III, and his fiancee Shelly Gwin. They will tie the knot Saturday, May 16 in Strawberry. Congratulations, Todd and Shelly.

Fantastic concert

Saturday evening, I attended the Payson Choral Society’s concert called “All About Love.”

The concert was a fantastic event. I had not realized how much talent there is in Payson.

The Payson Choral Society sponsors scholarships to middle school and high school students with exceptional musical talents. And I do mean exceptional! The scholarship winners performed musical numbers for the audience and they were delightful.

The chorus, under the direction of Daria Mason, was amazing. The 70-plus voices blended so well, it caused goosebumps! Everyone of the chorus should be proud of their accomplishments! It was a wonderfully pleasurable evening.

The next day was Mother’s Day so the happiness continued with calls from our children and a buffet dinner from my husband. What a week!

One more meeting

There will be a meeting of the Hellsgate Fire Board Wednesday, May 13, at the Tonto Village Fire Station. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are always open to the public and your comments are welcome.

Birthdays

A longtime supporter of the Domino Divas group, Annette Godfrey will celebrate her birthday May 17. Annette has not been with us for a while, but she is expected back very soon, we have missed her in the group. Hurry back, Annette, and have a wonderful day.

Ashley Figueroa, operations supervisor of the National Bank in Payson, will have her big day on Saturday, May 23. Ashley is eager to assist the customers and always has a big smile on her face. Happy birthday to you, Ashley.

Grant Coley and Mike Preston of Tonto Village II and III share their birthday Monday, May 25. Alice Andreas of Tonto Village III has her big day on Wednesday, May 27, and Gary and Charlene (Charlie) Martin will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary on that day. Congratulations to all of you.

Good cause raffle

There will be a raffle drawing of an original oil painting donated by C.M. Scott for Ethel Cain’s daughter, Sherry Lorig’s son, Darius. Darius has been at the Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah for a few months and will be operated on again.

The raffle will help defray some of the cost of the surgeries that Darius has needed. The drawing will be on Memorial Weekend at the Double D. The tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Pool results

The Double D gals played the Christopher Creek gals on Tuesday evening. The winners were Nancy Olson, Sue Prach and Payge Ferriera.
