Arizona treasurer to talk about state finances

Arizona State Treasurer Dean Martin will be speaking in Payson at noon, Monday, May 18 at the Gila Community College Payson campus.
The free program is open to everyone and is sponsored by the Rim Country Republican Club.
As state treasurer, Martin is Arizona’s Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the custody and management of state and local money. In his capacity as state treasurer, Martin also serves as the chairman of the State Board of Investment, State Loan Commission and as the State Surveyor General and on the State Land Selection Board.
He has made it possible for the public to study government finances on the Web site AzTreasury.gov.
He has been honored with numerous awards and has a long history of government service. He is a former state senator, serving as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, vice-chairman of Judiciary and a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
He and his wife, Kerry, are expecting their first child this month. Both are graduates of Arizona State University where Martin earned the first degree in small business management and entrepreneurship.
