A 29-year-old Payson man reportedly weaving in and out of traffic near Star Valley Saturday, slammed into another vehicle after he lost control and rolled, authorities said.
Around 6 p.m., the Payson Police Department received a call from DPS who said they were trying to locate Manuel Ramirez Jr., driving a gray van west on Highway 260 near Star Valley, said Sgt. John Heflin.
Ramirez was reportedly weaving down Highway 260, passing in no passing zones and nearly striking other vehicles.
“As officers were responding to the area, dispatch began receiving several 911 calls in reference to a rollover accident near Lion Springs Road on the east side of Star Valley,” Heflin said.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the gray van with Ramirez inside.
Ramirez had run the vehicle off the road and overcorrected, which caused the van to go into the eastbound lanes, strike a vehicle and then continue off the south side of the road and into a deep ravine, Heflin said.
Ramirez was airlifted to a Valley hospital and the driver and passenger of the eastbound vehicle were treated and released at Payson Regional Medical Center.
This case is still under investigation with possible charges pending, Heflin said.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
