Arizona State University is working with local volunteers and students to form a Club ASU chapter in the Payson area.

The club is sponsored by Arizona State University and has the mission of cultivating a “college-bound” attitude in youth.

It focuses on students going into the sixth- to 12th-grades, and membership is free.

The group is holding an informal kick-off pizza party for information and signup at 6 p.m., Friday, June 5.

The event will be at the home of local chapter sponsors Scott and Tedi Flake at 903 S. Coronado Way in Payson. Interested students are encouraged to attend to learn more and register. Parents are also welcome.

Organizers anticipate that the group will hold between two and four activities per year. The Rim Country chapter is expected to be known as the “Tontozona Chapter.”

For more information, call Scott or Tedi Flake at (928) 474-9139, or go to the Web site, www.clubasu.asu.edu.
