The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree is making a stop in Payson today, Nov. 10, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The town will be closing Longhorn Road at Highways 260 and 87 west to Colcord Road for a short, one-hour celebration.
Arizona was selected to provide the Capitol Christmas Tree which will grace the West Lawn of U.S. Capitol building in December.
There will be local musical groups performing and Santa will make a special appearance for all the kids. Payson Mayor Kenny Evans will make a special speech for all in attendance, town officials said.
The Tree Caravan is an 85-foot-long trailer carrying the 70-plus-foot tree. “Bring your camera and make sure to capture this historic event. It may be 50 years before this type of an event comes through our town or state again,” says Cameron Davis, Payson tourism and recreation director.
The tree will tour the state of Arizona and give each citizen a chance to see and be a part of this historic event.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
