The largest outpatient imaging provider in Arizona has expanded to Payson.
SimonMed Imaging recently opened its doors on East Main Street, a stone’s throw from Payson Regional Medical Center’s own Diagnostic Imaging Radiology center.
Like other outpatient imaging centers, SimonMed offers a host of services including high field MRI, multi slice CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound, digital fluoroscopy and digital mammography.
SimonMed founder and Medical Director John Simon said he is excited to enter the Payson market and offer residents a university-quality choice in imaging services with competitive rates similar to those found in the Valley.
Simon said he started SimonMed in 2003 to provide quality care at an affordable rate. Since then, SimonMed has grown to 22 centers across the Southwest with the majority located in the Valley. All centers are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
Unlike a hospital, there is no onsite physician in Payson’s SimonMed imaging center. When a patient visits SimonMed, a certified technician conducts the needed scan and the image is sent to one of 30 specialty doctors employed by SimonMed.
For example, if a woman needed a mammogram, a mammography specialist would conduct the scan in Payson and the digital images would be sent to a Valley doctor for reading.
Simon explained unlike a hospital with only one doctor doing readings, they have an advantage with a large pool of specialists doing readings.
“In a small community, you get a university-level care,” he said of their services.
While the SimonMed network conducts around 1,000 scans a day at their various offices, most scans are read within 24 hours.
SimonMed accepts most insurance and is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (928) 468-8234, visit www.simonmed.com or stop by 117 E. Main St., Suite D100
