The Payson Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to ARS 13-3825, the Community Notification on Sex Offenders Law.
David Scott Dewall, 37, has indicated that he will be living in the town of Payson.
In July of 1994, Dewall allegedly grabbed the breast of a 14-year-old girl in his neighborhood and told her he was willing to “teach her everything that she wanted to know about sex.”
Dewall was convicted in Maricopa County of attempted sexual abuse. The Payson Police Department and the Arizona Department of Corrections consider Dewall a level 3, high risk to the community.
It is the responsibility of the chief law enforcement officer having jurisdiction where the offender resides to make notification to the community. Notification must be made when certain sex offenders are released from the Arizona State Prison, accepted under an interstate compact or released from the county jail back into the community. The sex offender has advised the Payson Police Department that he will be living at 904 N. Granite Drive. Dewall is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
The Payson Police Department at this time does not have any outstanding warrants on Dewall, but he is on parole with the Arizona Department of Corrections.
This notification isn’t intended to increase fear; rather it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community.
Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass sex offenders will not be tolerated.
The Payson Police Department may be reached at (928) 474-5177 and is available to help you join or start a neighborhood watch program as well as provide you with useful information on personal safety. If you have information regarding current criminal activity on this or any other offender, please call (928) 474-5177 or 911.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
