Toy and canned food drives will be part of Thanksgiving Day at Creekside Restaurant, as well as Christopher Creek’s annual “running of the carts” event.

Hello again fellow Creekers.

Well the holiday season is just about here. I’ve already seen a few homes and businesses putting up their Christmas lights.

I hope to get our lights and decorations up here at Christopher Creek Lodge in the next week or so. I really hope I have the time to make it something really nice this year!

I thought I would provide some information on what I know is going on in the area thus far. If there are other events going on that you know about, please contact me so I can be sure to spread the word. My e-mail address is listed at the end of this article.

On Thanksgiving Day the Creekside Restaurant will be accepting drop-offs for toys for tots and also taking in food for a canned food drive.

Additionally, Cindy will be providing free hot chocolate and a $15.95 “endless feast” (turkey day food buffet) for anyone wanting to eat Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant. She expects to collect a lot of toys and food to hand out over the holidays, as well as serve up some terrific holiday food.

Running of the carts

On Dec. 12 the annual “running of the carts” will happen. This is where everyone gets their golf cart or ATV and decorates them for a little parade that goes up the loop into See Canyon and toward Hunter Creek as well.

This year we expect to have a really good turnout. We’d also like to invite our neighbors in Payson, Heber, Forest Lakes and Tonto Creek to join in. There is no entry fee or prizes or anything, it is just a good time for everyone.

A food drive and toys for tots program will also be part of this event. I expect to have more details, like the start time and meeting place soon, and will be sure to update everyone in this column.

Community potluck

On Dec. 13, Cindy at the Creekside will also be hosting the annual winter celebration “community potluck.” I’ll have more details soon, but did want to give everyone a heads up to make sure you have enough time to think of just the right dish to bring.

Poker tournament

Lastly, there is free Texas Hold ’em Poker tournament at the Creekside every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., with play starting promptly at 7 p.m.

As always, I do need your help with content and stories! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at:

Thanks again for reading the column and take care.
