Police say a Payson woman who stole thousands of dollars from employer deposit bags and wrote checks out to herself over a six-month period has been arrested.
On Oct. 27, Sherri Lynn Dashney was arrested on charges stemming from a fraudulent schemes and artifices investigation, said Payson Det. Sgt. Dean Faust.
Several months ago, police got a tip from an employer who suspected Dashney was taking deposits instead of dropping them off at the bank.
Payson Det. Mike McAnerny began investigating and discovered Dashney had stolen thousands of dollars from a paint and body shop, retail store and a construction company where she worked.
Police believe Dashney stole from at least these three employers over a six- to 10-month period and there may be more victims.
When police obtained a search warrant for Dashney’s home, they discovered paperwork, which showed Dashney stole from other employers. Faust said it appears Dashney stole from these employers and they caught her but decided not report the theft as long as she paid them back, Faust said.
Police also believe Dashney stole checks from employers and wrote checks out to herself. If anyone has any information regarding Dashney or believes they are a victim, contact McAnerny at (928) 474-5242 ext. 255.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
