Noise Prompts Gun Fire

Drug bust ensues after man shoots at roommates

Police say a 47-year-old man who got angry with his roommates for making too much noise, was arrested Sunday after shooting a bullet through a second story floor, nearly hitting his roommates.

Michael Kenney was arrested on charges of two counts of aggravated assault, criminal damage, misconduct with a weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Payson Lt. Don Garvin.

On Sunday, Kenney’s roommates called police around 1:15 p.m. to report Kenney had fired a shot in the home they rent from him in the 500 block of South McLane Road.

When officers arrived, they learned Kenney had become aggravated with the two men for making noise with a saw in a lower level of the home so he fired a shot through the floor above were they were working, Garvin said.

The bullet went through the floor and exited out a lower level window near were the men were working. Neither was injured.

After police secured the area, investigators received a search warrant for the home and discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

They arrested Kenney and booked him in the Gila County Jail.
