Youth basketball

The Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is offering three different youth basketball programs starting soon. Registration is taking place now.

The fee for all youth basketball leagues is $25.

Start Smart Basketball

Start you child early with basketball. Start Smart Basketball will be held on Saturdays for one month. The clinic is designed for young children to familiarize with and begin to learn the sport of basketball. Each child will receive a T-shirt.

Registration: through Oct. 22.

Start date: Nov. 7 – Dec. 5

Age: 3 years to kindergarten

Location: JRE gymnasium

Biddy Basketball

Prepare your child for youth basketball. Biddy Basketball will be held on Saturdays for a month. The clinic is designed for young children to begin to learn the sport of basketball. Each child will take home a T-shirt.

Registration: through Oct. 22

Start date: Nov. 7 – Dec. 5

Age: Grades first and second

Location: JRE gymnasium

Jr. NBA Youth Basketball

Join the league! Enjoy a season of basketball. Each child will take home a Payson reversible jersey. Those who register after the deadline for their age group will be placed on teams only if space permits.

Seventh- and eighth-grade

Registration: through Oct. 15

Start date: Oct. 31

Location: RCMS gym

Fifth- and sixth-grade

Registration: Nov. 16 – Dec. 22

Start date: Jan. 9

Location: RCMS gym

Third- and fourth-grade

Registration: Jan. 4 – Feb. 4

Start date: Feb. 20

Location: RCMS gym

Adult Co-ed Volleyball

Competitive and recreation divisions will be offered with a four-team minimum for both divisions. Team entry includes league play and an end-of-season double-elimination tournament.

Registration: through Oct. 8

Start date: Oct. 19

Age: 16-plus

Location: RCMS gym

Fee: $225

Women’s and Men’s Volleyball

Competitive and recreation divisions will be offered, with a four-team minimum for both divisions. Team entry includes league play and an end-of-season double-elimination tournament.

Registration: Oct. 26 – Nov. 19

Start date: Dec. 7

Age: 16-plus

Fee: $250

PATS Hikes

Like to hike but not sure where to go? Join us for a free group hike on one of the PATS and U.S. Forest Service routes.

Don’t forget your hiking boots, water and walking sticks!

Pre-registration is preferred, but can be done on-site prior to the hike.

Houston Loop Trail

Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

Difficulty: Moderate

Length: 5 miles

Come enjoy the breathtaking views and historic sites on the Houston Loop Trail. Participants will meet at the intersection of Mayfield Canyon Road and Highway 260 in Star Valley. Expect moderately difficult hiking with loose rocks and steep slopes.
