I have enjoyed the nippy mornings and evenings, and I know that the temperatures will be steadily dropping from now on.
I have had enough of the hot weather, it feels as if the hot days have lasted for a longer period of time.
There is a celebrity living among us in Thompson Draw I. Karen Fausz is that person.
Karen entered a food contest while at a NASCAR race at Phoenix International Raceway not long ago. The contest was Libby’s Vegetables Celebrate Get Back to The Table Month.
Karen was picked out of five other people to compete in a cook-off in New York City. Karen was very surprised when she was announced as the winner!
Karen won an all expenses paid trip to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the NASCAR races along with a $1,000 expense card.
Karen won the contest with a recipe called Scalloped Corn.
Look for a feature in this issue of the Payson Roundup, along with her story and her recipe.
Karen is a NASCAR enthusiast so she will enjoy her trip to Daytona. Congratulations to you, Karen!
Hellsgate Fire Department
Payson Fire Chief Marty deMasi is allowing Hellsgate Fire Department to continue to use their water storage bladders that are strategically located around our communities. Ed Armenta, chief ranger for the Payson District of the U.S. Forest Service is allowing us to continue to keep them on forest land located adjacent to our communities.
Hellsgate would like to publicly acknowledge and thank them for their help in making this need a little more permanent.

Ruby would like to hear from her friends and she would also enjoy get well cards. The address is: 7400 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. Her room number is #402, Bed 2.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ruby, and we all wish her a speedy recovery.
The dust from the Control Road was especially bad this past week. Not only from the weekenders, but from some of the locals who use the road.
For those of you who obey the speed limit, you are applauded. As for the rest of you ...

Chalk dust at Double D
The Tonto Village nine-ball players took to the tables last Tuesday evening. When the dust settled, Kara Shaw was the best shooter, followed by Linda Stailey. Third place was Ethel Cain. For the second time Payge Fierra won the nine-ball pot. Congratulations to all the winners.
