The community is invited to participate in Time Out’s annual candlelight walk/vigil honoring those who have died and those who have survived the social epidemic known as domestic violence Thursday, Oct. 8. Participants will meet at the Town Hall parking lot at 5:45 p.m., where they will be given candles and signs to carry, if desired. At 6 p.m., the assembled group will line up to begin a brief walk to the Payson United Methodist Church, where a short program and refreshments will be provided. Should the walk be canceled due to inclement weather, the program will proceed at 6:30 p.m. as planned.
The event is intended to help raise awareness and sensitivity to a topic that is sometimes difficult to understand. Men are encouraged to attend as, contrary to common assumption; they, too, can become victims of domestic violence. For more information, please call Time Out at 928-472-8007.
This event is one of many activities planned by Time Out, the local domestic violence shelter, in recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. October 24th is Time Out’s annual fund-raising banquet at the Rim Club. Help Time Out’s programs of hope by donating auction items, becoming a sponsor, and/or attending the banquet. For tickets or more information, please contact Sue Yale at 928-970-1255. All donations and fundraising proceeds go to support local Time Out programs such as the emergency domestic violence shelter, the transitional housing program, and the Gila Family Advocacy Center.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
