Are you ready to start college this spring?
Gila Community College’s spring 2010 semester begins Jan. 13.
It may seem like a long time away, but for students planning to attend college classes in the spring, there is much to do now.
If students have not already applied for financial aid for the 2009/2010 academic year the time to apply is now. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to fill out your application. Filling out the form is easier if you plan ahead. Gather required information like your Social Security number, driver’s license, income tax returns and investment records before you begin.
For a complete listing of the documents you will need to complete the FAFSA, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov/before003.htm.
Visit www.fastweb.com to see what scholarship opportunities are available for the spring semester.
Fill out or update your admissions forms by visiting one of the Gila Community College Campuses:
Gila Pueblo Campus, 8274 Six Shooter Canyon in Globe
Payson Campus, 201 North Mud Springs Road in Payson
San Carlos Campus at the corner of Tonto and Mesa Drive in San Carlos
For new students, have a photo ID ready to verify your citizenship and residency. If your driver’s license was issued less than one year ago, other documentation will be required.
Now is the time to take placement tests if you plan to enroll in English or math. After taking placement tests, schedule an appointment with an adviser to plan your course of study. Advisers are available at all campuses. You can pre-register for spring classes on or after Oct. 15.
If you have questions or would like to make an appointment with an adviser, call one of the campuses: Gila Pueblo Campus in Globe at (928) 425-8481; Payson Campus at (928) 468-8039; or San Carlos Campus at (928) 475-5981. Gila Community College is committed to your success.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
