Our Congress And Their Travel Requests

Wacky requests at the congressional travel office are real tummy ticklers. A senator’s aide called to book a trip to Hawaii and asked: “Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii? A New Mexico congresswoman said: “I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York.” After much map checking, the agent asked: “You don’t mean Buffalo, do you?” Her response: That’s it! I knew it was a big animal.”

A lawmaker’s wife asked: “Is it possible to see England from Canada?” When the agent said no, she replied: “But they look so close on the map.” A senior Vermont congressman was furious that he couldn’t see the ocean from his hotel room in Orlando, Fla. The agent explained that Orlando is in the middle of the state, but the caller insisted: “Don’t lie to me! I looked at the map and Florida is a very thin state!”
