Design A Shirt For Domestic Violence Month

Payson Regional Healthy Woman and The Arizona Rural Women’s Health Network invite the public to show support for Domestic Violence Awareness with a “design a shirt” project. Each participant will tell a story for domestic violence awareness, using words and/or artwork to decorate a T-shirt.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Payson Regional Health Outreach Facility (directly across Hwy. 87 from Foxworth). T-shirts and materials will be provided. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All shirts will become part of the clothesline project to be displayed sometime between now and October 2011. The shirts will not be returned to the “artist” unless arrangements are made at the time designed. The shirts will be photographed and become part of the ongoing display. To reserve a spot call (928) 472-9290 or (928) 474-3472.

The Clothesline Project started on Cape Cod, Mass. in 1990 to address the issue of violence against women. Each woman participating would tell her story in her own unique way. Once finished, she would then hang her shirt on the clothesline.
