Hoping to bring a little piece of the tropics to Payson is Shear Oasis Salon.

Owner Amanda M. Ruff opened the salon in the Swiss Village shops in late September.

The salon is decorated with water fountains, aquariums, bright colors and decor, she said.

“It is a new, refreshing look for Payson,” she said, “upscale, serene, oasis-themed salon that is very art deco.”

Ruff trained at an Aveda institute and specializes in using Aveda products and the latest techniques.

Her staff of four provides hair designing, facial waxing, scalp treatments, nails, pedicures and reflexology.

Products include Framesi, Big Sexy Hair, Tigi and Aveda.

“I choose very talented stylists and I would like to invite the community to check us out and give us a chance to make them happy,” Ruff said.

“If you are looking for a new look this is the place to come.”

Services are not limited to women, Ruff added. The salon, at 806 N. Beeline Highway, is open to students, men and children.

The salon is open Monday through Saturday and hours differ by stylist.
