A tractor-trailer driver inadvertently drove off a 10-foot embankment on Highway 87 Monday morning after reaching for a drink. The man was heading south on Highway 87 from the construction cite near Pine to the construction site north of Payson when he lost control of the empty tractor-trailer near milepost 259 and went down a 10-foot embankment, said DPS Sgt. Terry Lincoln. The driver was reportedly reaching for something to drink when he lost control, Lincoln said. The man was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.
Traffic was obstructive shortly while a tow truck hauled the trailer out.
