The Community Health and Care Fair Saturday will have something for everyone with free and low-cost screenings, tests and lots of helpful information to stay well this winter.
Rim Country residents, from senior citizens to infants, can get a jump on good health for the coming winter at the 11th annual Community Health & Care Fair. The event is from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 7 at the “old gym” at Payson High School.
There will be free screenings for adults and children, low-cost blood tests and immunizations.
The free screenings for adults include: blood pressure, breast exam, dental, diabetes, dermatology, hearing, ankle brachial indes, vision, heart/lung exam and oxygen saturation and bone density.
Free screenings for children include: dental exams, heart and lung exams, vision and hearing tests, nutrition information and fingerprinting.
The blood tests are $10 for women and $15 for men and will include a complete lipid panel, blood sugar and PSA for men. The tests require participants to fast for 12 hours prior to the blood draw, except for water and medication.
Immunizations will be given for the flu for $25 and pneumonia for $50. Medicare and most insurance will be accepted for the immunizations and no appointment is necessary.
Organizers are encouraging residents to donate eye glasses, hearing aids and/or non-perishable food items at the Health & Care Fair.
At the event, participants can get information on community resources from Gila County Health & Community Services; Payson Athletic Club-MHAX III; Relay for Life; Payson Lions Club; Rim Country Rotary; Hospice Compassus; Payson Regional Senior Circle and Healthy Woman; North Country Community Health Center; Mogollon Health Alliance and more.
The Gracie Lee Haught Children’s Memorial Fund will have bike helmets and car seats available at the Community Health & Care Fair as well.
The event is sponsored by the Mogollon Health Alliance; Payson Regional Medical Center, Hospice Compassus and Eastern Arizona Area Health Education.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
