With the Payson Unified School District facing a bleak budget future, Payson Glass recently decided to start a fund-raiser to give back to the district.
From now until March 2010, every time a customer gets a vehicle window replaced and uses their auto insurance, Payson Glass will donate $25 to $75 to the district for extracurricular activities, said Tim Hewitt, Payson Glass manager.
Customers can specify which school and program they want the money to go to.
For example, one of the first customers who participated designated their money for the girls basketball team at Rim Country Middle School. At the end of each month, Hewitt will cut the district a check.
“We should be able to give $5,000 to the Payson school district,” by the end of the program, he said.
This is not the first time Payson Glass has donated. They regularly donate to area churches and local organizations.
“We are in a real suppressed economy right now and as a community we need to look out for each other and help,” he said.
If other area school districts are interested in participating in the program, call Hewitt at (928) 474-5546.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
