Fair this weekend

The 55th Annual Northern Gila County Fair is this week, Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Payson Event Center and the Tonto Apache Exhibit Hall (gym).
As part of the fair festivities there will be barrel and pole bending contests at the event center arena at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9; 4H speed events at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, also at the event center.
Exhibits open for viewing at 9 a.m., Friday and 10 a.m., Saturday and Sunday at the exhibit hall and close at 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m., Sunday. Fair-goers can view the livestock at the event center until 6 p.m., Saturday.
The 4H Horse Show is at 8 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11 at the event center, with the livestock judging and show at 6 p.m., Saturday under the big tent.
The fair’s open horse show is at 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12 in the event center arena, with the livestock auction at 5 p.m. under the big tent.
The Northern Gila County Fair festivities will conclude with a Demolition Derby at the event center. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., the derby starts at 1:30 p.m.
