Hello. For those of you reading this column you will have noticed a little bit of a change, since Mikey Marazza is not writing the column. Mikey moved to Payson and thought it was important that Christopher Creek was still represented in the paper. So, first of all, I would like to thank Mikey for all of the terrific past work and also for always thinking of the community.
My name is Jason Harris. I am a native of Arizona, grew up in Rim Country and am the managing partner for the Christopher Creek Lodge.
For those of you I’ve met, I’m sure you know I have a fair amount to say (making this a pretty good gig for me).
For those of you I haven’t met yet, I am sure it is just a matter of time.
Tuesday night was the annual Flatlanders Party. This is a party where the locals gather to celebrate the end of another summer season and serves as an appreciation for all the tourists and snowbirds who drive the local economy.
The businesses of Christopher Creek have announced the formation of the Christopher Creek Visitors Association (CCVA).
“We had an organization like this in the past and it was very successful in keeping business booming in the area,” said Susan Keown of ERA Realty.
“We used to have all kinds of neat events right here in Christopher Creek and we aim to bring that back,” she went on to say.
Comedian at Creekside
Cindy Fitch of Creekside Restaurant said, “It’s time to put Christopher Creek back on the map.” She appears to be doing her part. Not only is she a strong voice in the CCVA, but she is also creating her own buzz and sponsoring her own events.
On Friday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. she is hosting stand-up comedian James Spencer. He has been seen on Comedy Central and is a rising star! My brother said he saw some of his routine on TV and thought the guy was hilarious.
If you are interested in this terrific unique event you can call Cindy at (928) 478-4557 for advanced reservations.
Kudos to you Cindy for bringing in some terrific talent! Who would have thought you could catch dinner and a show in little old Christopher Creek?
The first event planned by the CCVA is The Christopher Creek Car Show Classic, which is being held Saturday, Oct. 10. All proceeds will be used toward helping the community.
From what everyone tells me, they used to have some really terrific car show events not so long ago in Christopher Creek.
We are expecting more than 100 participants and many more spectators.
A whole bunch of the local folks are going to be involved and help in the fun! We plan for this to be one of the premier events that we expect to become an annual tradition.
If you have a car you’d like to enter, the cost is $10 and you can register at the Creekside Restaurant.
There will also be music, games, giveaways and several street vendors. There are still a few spots left for street vendors. So, if you’re interested, please call Cindy at (928) 478-4557.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the neat cars, fresh air and street vendors.
I need your help! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks, and I’ll do my best to do a good job.
