Assault Under Investigation


Officers from the Payson Police Department are investigating an aggravated assault domestic violence case that has led to the arrest of one Payson man and the hospitalization of another.

Detective Sgt. Dean Faust said police responded to a domestic violence call a little after 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18. At the scene, in the 600 block of South Beeline, they found a male victim, 56, unresponsive. The man was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital and was in the intensive care unit at press time, according to Faust.

At the scene the officers spoke with two other men and arrested Bryan Ransom, 29, on aggravated assault-domestic violence.

“We don’t know what led to the incident,” Faust said.

Deputies for the Gila County Sheriff’s Office in Payson made several arrests in the area between Sept. 18 and Sept. 20.

Sept. 18 — Geoffrey Fulks, 34, Payson, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia when deputies responded to a fight in progress in the Christopher Creek area.

Jonathan Wilham, Phoenix, was arrested for false reporting to a police officer and failure to appear on an outstanding warrant when deputies responded to a call of campers in the area of the Water Wheel off Houston Mesa Road.

Sept. 19 — Bret A. DaCosta, 50, Pine, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct-domestic violence and simple assault-domestic violence.

Sept. 20 — Douglas Tenney Sr., 24, Gisela, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct when deputies responded to a disturbance call in the Tonto Creek Shores area of Gisela.

David. C. Santo, 33, Hacienda Heights, Calif., was cited and released for driving with a suspended license when deputies made a routine traffic stop.
