New Fire District Classification Can Lead To Reduced Insurance Premiums

The communities that are in the Hellsgate Fire District just received really good news regarding the ISO ( Insurance Services Office). They have regraded the fire district. The district has gone from an 8B/10 classification to a 4/8B classification. This means anyone with a residence within the communities of the Hellsgate Fire District should see a reduction in their insurance rates. If your property is within 5 miles of one of our three fire stations, it will have an ISO Class 4 rating. The communities are Star Valley, Tonto Village, Mead Ranch, Little Green Valley, Thompson Draw I & II, Diamond Point Summer Homes, Collins Ranch and Zane Grey Meadows.

If you live in the communities of Bear Flat, Ellison Creek Summer Homes or Ellison Creek Estates, the ISO will be lowered from a Class 10 to a Class 8B. As a homeowner within the district, you will need to contact your insurance company and ask them to expedite a change in your insurance premium. Some companies will not give substantial discounts, which may require that you shop around for insurance companies which do give discounts.

The Hellsgate personnel has worked very hard in the last year to upgrade the district. Chief Gary Hatch has been very instrumental in achieving the new status, and he deserves a big pat on the back along with each and everyone of the fire department who helped the district achieve this rating.

The Hellsgate Fireflies will hold their first meeting of the 2010 year on Wednesday, April 7. The meeting will be held at the Tonto Village fire station #22, starting at 10:30 a.m. The Fireflies welcomes all volunteers from the different communities within the fire district. The Fireflies hold two very important functions every year, the Memorial Weekend breakfast and the Labor Day Weekend barbecue. They could use everyone’s help to make both events successful. Just remember, the events are fund-raisers for the firefighters in our district. With the economy being so iffy, the fire district could use the monies raised for schooling and workshops for the firefighters.

The Hellsgate Fire Board will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 14 at the Star Valley fire station #21. The meeting is open to the public and opinions from the audience are welcome.

The Tonto Village Domestic Water Improvement District will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 6 at the Hellsgate, Tonto Village station. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. These meeting are also open to the public and comments are appreciated.

One birthday was omitted last week, Margot Holmes of Christopher Creek will celebrate her big day on April 8. Happy birthday to you. Here’s hoping your day turns out to be a winner!

Double D Doings

Surprise, surprise! One of the gals who lived in the Village and played nine-ball faithfully every Tuesday evening, Phyllis Mullen Ballard, is visiting with Pat Bates for a few days and she played in the Sunday eight-ball tournament and the nine-ball tournament.

Last week the gals got together and Patty Boeschling won the nine-ball break. Congratulations, Patty. The second-place winner was Payge Ferriera and third place was won by Linda Stailey.

On Sunday, the players got together for an eight-ball tournament. Betty Koutz, Harvey Poyner and Jerry Landrum took first, second and third places. Congratulations to all of you.
