Hello again, fellow Creekers.

The second annual Spring Fling Under the Stars/Party in the Creek at Paula’s is May 3. Entertaining everyone will be Lynda St. John and Wendy with the music starting at 5 p.m. This will be a great night of fun, dancing underneath the stars. The location is Wheeler’s Resort at Paula’s and admission is $10 per person. Please also BYOB, bring a chair and also bring a dish for the potluck. Everyone is invited to come join in the festivities.

Christopher Kohl’s Fire Department is happy to announce we have just received notice from Insurance Services Office of our new ISO grade. CKFD went through an extensive re-grading for ISO last August. This is the first re-grading done in 17 years.

ISO grades all fire departments across the country and assigns an insurance grade that dictates what property owners in their respective fire districts have to pay for fire insurance.

Our current ISO rating is 8B/I0. Effective May 1, 2010 Christopher Kohl’s new ISO rating will be 6/8B. This lower rating will mean a reduction in homeowners insurance premiums.

CKFD was able to receive a lower rating because of updated fire engines and equipment, full-time personnel, extensive training and automatic aid with neighboring Hellsgate Fire Department.

We are very proud of what this new rating will mean to the residents of our communities and the savings they will incur. I want to personally thank all personnel of CKFD for their countless hours of hard work to make this a reality.

Also our thanks go out to Hellsgate Fire Department and CKFD Chief Electra VanEckhoutte for all their help with training and in preparing for this grading.

As always, I do need your help with content and stories! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at: info@christophercreeklodge.com. Any submitted pictures must be full-size (typically around 1MB per picture). The cutoff time for inclusion in Friday’s article is close of business on Monday.

Thanks again for reading the column.
