Pontiac lives on... at least around here, if not in dealerships. This 1971 citrus green Pontiac Firebird Formula 455 belongs to Charlie and Joanne Halm of Payson. They have owned it since 1974. When their son, who drove it as a daily driver in high school and college, decided to go away for his final two years of schooling, Dad agreed to take it back as a restoration project. It has been shown at cruises and car shows in California, Nevada, and Arizona for the past twelve years. Behind it is the next project waiting for its turn. A 1955 Pontiac Safari. For those of you unfamiliar with the Safari, it was considered a performance sports wagon and was Pontiac’s sibling to the Chevy Nomad. One of these years it will make a showing at the Beeline Cruise-In.
