Sonoran Swing will bring music of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s to life in a special benefit concert for the Payson Institute of Learning at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 25 at the Payson High School Auditorium. Tickets are $18 at the door or may be purchased in advance at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Annual yard sale

The Northern Gila County Genealogical Society will host its annual yard sale Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24 at the Genealogy Library, 302 E. Bonita St.

Beeline Cruise-In

The 17th annual Beeline Cruise-In starts today in Green Valley Park with registration throughout the day and the parade run through town starting at 4 p.m.

April 24 Saturday

Beeline Cruise-In

The 17th annual Beeline Cruise-In is all day today at Green Valley Park. See classic, vintage and antique cars on display; visit vendors and take a chance on a raffle ticket of two. Free admission.

RPAP brush pit schedule

This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project… for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:

On Saturday, April 24, the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.

On Sunday, April 25, the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.

All RPAP free drop-off locations are for brush, leaves, pine needles, trimmings, and other vegetative materials only.  Properly bagged Yellow Starthistle, or other listed noxious weed species will also be accepted and will be burned.  No household garbage, construction debris, or other items will be accepted.

Poker Ride for Cancer Foundation

A poker ride planned for April 24 will travel through the beautiful back country of Arizona along a trail that leads to a historic cabin where local cowboys used to stay while driving their cattle to the sale every year.

The O-C Ranch Poker Ride is for ATVs, UTVs and 4-wheel Jeeps only, and sign-up begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 24 at the O-C Ranch, 1390 Ewing Trail in Tonto Basin. The ride is 42.7 miles long and will take 5 to 6 hours.

Cost is $20 per hand. Pack a picnic lunch and pick a spot along the way. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life/Cancer Foundation.

Author Katy Rovetto will be signing copies of her book, a memoir, “Flying High: Soaring Above the Tragedies of Life,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 24 at Oasis Christian Books, 512 S. Beeline Highway.

Spring Fashion Show

The Blue Thong Society presents the first annual Spring Fashion Show at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 25 at Gerardo’s Italian Bistro, 512 N. Beeline Highway.

The afternoon includes a gourmet luncheon, door prizes, gift bags and discounts on all fashions. Modeled fashions are provided by local merchants.

Tickets are $20 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Central Arizona. For more information, call (928) 978-4100.

Music on a Sunday afternoon

Join the Sonoran Swing orchestra for an afternoon of music this Sunday, April 25.

To raise funds for the Payson Institute of Learning, the concert is planned for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 25 at the Payson High School Auditorium.

The 23-piece group, with vocalists Gary Cordell of Payson and Mary Gilbert, will present music from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.

Tickets are $18 at the door, and may be purchased in advance at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, 100 W. Main St.
