Employee Benefit Packages On School District Board Agenda

Employee benefit packages for the next school year top the Payson school board agenda for Monday night’s meeting.

The district is changing providers to avoid skyrocketing rates.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the district office, located at the Rock Building near Julia Randall Elementary.

The district previously released agendas Friday afternoon for its Monday meetings. This practice generated criticism during the recent layoffs when some people said the late agenda release did not promote public input.

Board members said they would work to release the agenda earlier. This week’s hit e-mail inboxes Thursday afternoon.

During Monday’s meeting, the board will also approve the new high school athletic director job description. The part-time position will carry a stipend of $10,000.

Whoever the district selects for the position will head the program since the board eliminated the full-time position to solve its budget shortfall.

Board members will also hear an explanation of Proposition 301 money, which is state funding dedicated to enhancing teacher pay, and select general expenses.
