Payson Artists Offer Studio Tours In May

The Payson Art League will be offering its annual ’Neath the Rim studio tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, May 7 through Sunday, May 9. The event is being held at 16 individual studios throughout the towns of Payson and Pine.

The juried fine art and fine craft show will feature 21 artists offering a variety of mediums; including oil, acrylic, fiber art, bronze sculpture, batik, hand-crafted jewelry, weavings, stained-glass, and mixed media works.

Brochures, including a map of the studios, can be obtained at the individual art studios, the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, at the corner of Highway 87 and West Main Street and the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road.

A benefit raffle of 21 art pieces takes place Sunday, May 9. The proceeds of the raffle will help purchase art supplies for Payson Head Start, Julia Randall Elementary School, Frontier Elementary School, Payson Community Christian School, The Shelby School in Tonto Village, Wolf Impressions enrichment program at Frontier Elementary, Payson Center for Success, Payson Community Kids, Tonto Basin School and Whispering Hope Ranch.

Participating artists represent varied art careers and backgrounds, many long-standing, and originally are from other states as well as Arizona. All find inspiration in Payson’s quiet mountain environment.

Visitors may follow the green signs from studio to studio.
