The Arizona Department of Transportation will close a two-mile segment of State Route 260, fifteen miles east of Payson, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26.
The roadway will be closed for 45 minutes to provide a safe work zone for crews as they conduct blasting operations on a project to widen the highway.
Eastbound traffic will be stopped at milepost 265 and westbound traffic at milepost 267.
Blasting on the project uses controlled explosives to excavate and remove rock as crews continue to clear the path for the new roadway.
ADOT advises drivers to slow down, be alert for workers and heavy equipment, and anticipate delays throughout the work zone as construction continues until fall 2011.
