Gila Community College has been awarded a $400,000 nursing grant through the United States Department of Education.

The college has received over 100 nursing admission applications from prospective nursing students applying for the fall 2010 semester. Senior Dean Stephen Cullen said, “The growth of the program is a tribute to the quality of our highly qualified instructional staff and dedication of Deans Patricia Burke and Pam Butterfield. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the unwavering collaboration of Payson and Globe health care facilities.”

Cullen said, “This funding has been made possible through the hard work and commitment of Congresswoman Anne Kirkpatrick. The funds are needed in order to support the exponential growth of the nursing program.”
