Community Events Being Posted On New Web Site

Hello again, fellow Creekers.

The new christophercreekloop.com Web site, which is being used for showing upcoming events in our area is already being utilized. Cindy at the Creekside Restaurant has posted all of the upcoming Tavern Poker tournaments. The May 1 Chili Cook-off/Kentucky Derby celebration is also posted on there as well as a few other known future events. We hope to include information from Judy Tolle of the CCHOA, the churches and also the fire department and others for getting the word out on any upcoming community events. This site is also linked to the main community site christophercreekarizona.com, which has a bunch of terrific information.

I’d like to give a very personal thank you to the Christopher-Kohl’s Fire Department, and especially Chief Elektra for putting out a fire right at Christopher Creek Lodge. Chief actually noticed the fire herself and the fire department did a fantastic job. Thankfully it was caught before it had a chance to do any real damage. It appears that despite our numerous warnings and assistance that a guest may have put what they thought was an extinguished piece of firewood near some other wood on the property. My guess is that the wind kicked up and a couple of small sparks made their way to a pine needle or two. This just goes to show that despite all of our efforts and training, that more can be done. We are using this event to re-train everybody, review our existing policies and make doubly sure that something like this does not happen again. In addition to all of our other precautionary measures we plan to do more “management by walking around” and also have just installed a few more security cameras for added measure. When it comes to fire safety, I don’t think there is such a thing as being too cautious. Hopefully, for all of us, everybody has a safe fire season.

I also wanted to give a quick mention about Dennis O’neill. Dennis bought a massive trailer/dumper with hydraulics. It is an impressive machine. Anyway, if you or anyone you know needs anything hauled (roof tiles, old appliances, firewood, brush, anything really) you can reach him at (928) 478-0003. I don’t know if he has any set price or anything, but he just hauled off a bunch of stuff for us and the price was very reasonable and we will definitely use him again when the need arises.

I am always looking to make someone here famous. So, if you want to be in the paper or know someone that should be, please e-mail me at jason@christophercreeklodge.com. I’ll e-mail you over my short “better know your neighbor” form for you to fill out.

Also, as always, I do need your help with content and stories! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at: info@christophercreeklodge.com. Any submitted pictures must be full-size (typically around 1MB per picture). The cutoff time for inclusion in Friday’s article is close of business on Monday.

Thanks again for reading the column.
