Learn more about the benefits of tai chi/qigong by attending the next Lunch and Learn.
Penny Navis Schmidt will be the guest at the next Lunch and Learn from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Aug. 11. Please register for the event by calling (928) 472-9290. A light lunch is served and the event is free.
Navis Schmidt has lived and worked as a therapist in Payson for 31 years.
Navis Schmidt is also a certified tai chi/qigong teacher and offers classes that teach clients how to manage stress and bring balance into their life.
Qigong, often called Chinese yoga, is an easily learned moving meditation that can be practiced either seated or standing. Qigong has been particularly effective for individuals with chronic health conditions.
Practice improves cardiovascular and circulatory function, increased vitality, an enhanced immune system, balance and overall physical and mental health and well-being.
Navis Schmidt will also be meeting with the Senior Circle qigong class on Thursday, Aug. 17 to help with students with their techniques. Senior Circle qigong meets from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Mondays and Thursdays.
Changes
Dance classes
Thursday Ballroom Dance will resume Thursday, Aug. 5. The class is from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and all dancers are welcome. This free class is taught by Dee Force, a professional, award-winning ballroom dancer.
Line Dance Classes will be on vacation from Aug. 13 through Sept. 17; resuming Sept. 24.
Zumba
The Thursday 5:30 p.m. Zumba class is canceled. If you are interested in Zumba, please join one of the morning classes held Monday-Thursday.
Christy Walton certified Zumba instructor has volunteered her time and skills the last several months by providing the Zumba classes with a video of both her Gold and Basic classes. She will start teaching the Wednesday class live, starting at 9 a.m., Aug. 11. The class will be a Zumba Gold class and will last 50 minutes.
Member lunch
A tasty lunch and lots of fellowship is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18 at the Senior Circle Member Lunch. The cost is $4. Make a reservation by calling (928) 472-9290.
