Araceli is turning 1year old and we are having a party to celebrate. Please join us for cake and ice cream Saturday, Aug. 7 at the HSCAZ animal shelter, located at 812 S. McLane Road.

Tomorrow is a very special day here at the Humane Society of Central Arizona. One our family members is turning one year old.

Araceli came to us with three of her siblings — Shaylee, Macey and Braxton — along with their mother Clara when they were only 2 days old. They passed all their health checks and stayed in our isolation unit until they were old enough to be spayed and neutered. At that point, all but Araceli and Clara moved upstairs and were placed for adoption.

Braxton was adopted first, then returned and adopted again in December of 2009. Macey went to her forever home in January of this year. It seemed a long time before Shaylee was adopted in May.

Araceli was by far the runt of the litter, and we were hesitant to take her from her mother until we were sure she was big enough. Little did we know that she was going to be spending her entire first year with her mother.

They have been at the shelter for a year now. They spend their days in cat house #4 watching the people come and go and the staff working. From their house they can see some of the dogs and the wild birds who have also claimed this rickety old place as their home. Araceli still enjoys snuggling with her mother, and can often be found napping with her head resting on Clara.

But back to the point, it’s Araceli’s 1st birthday and we are having a party and you are invited to join us. We will be having cake and ice cream. The party will be Saturday, Aug. 7 at the shelter at 812 S. McLane Road, just south of Main Street. We invite you to come and meet Clara, Araceli and all the wonderful animals who are making the HSCAZ their temporary home. And have some cake and ice cream.

Clara

Araceli and Clara are available for adoption. The perfect home would be one they could go to together. Being together, they will feel more comfortable and at ease in their new surroundings. Though it is not mandatory that they be adopted together, it sure would be wonderful.
