Lunch and Learn

Linda Parsons, director of quality management at Payson Regional Medical Center will the be the guest speaker at the Senior Circle’s Lunch and Learn from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Aug. 25.

Parsons will lecture on patient rights, health care violence and precautions to take against falling. She is a certified health care professional.

Giving youngsters a healthy start in school

Matilda Garcia, a pediatric specialist will present a program at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26 at the PRMC Outreach Center (Senior Circle), 215 N. Beeline Highway.

She will be speaking about getting children and teens off to a healthy start this school year. Women of all ages — moms and grandmas — are encouraged to attend. Come and meet Dr. Garcia, enjoy refreshments and get questions answered about the well-being of children at school.

Diabetic Support Group

The next diabetic support group will meet from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30 at the Senior Circle.

John Hancock will be the leader of this support group on a regular basis. He brings years of experience to the group as a self-management educator. Learn ways to better manage diabetes. Call to register by calling (928) 472-9290.

Health Fair

Sign up now for the Senior Circle Health Fair planned for Oct. 19. Blood screenings will include cholesterol, blood sugar and PSA for men. The Health Fair is free to Senior Circle members. Those planning to attend should call (928) 472-9290 and secure an appointment.


Ballroom Dancers

The Thursday ballroom dance class is back and in full swing. The class led by professional ballroom dancer Dee Force is held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Senior Circle. Both couples and singles are encouraged to attend. The class is great exercise and lots of fun.

Member Lunch

The Aug. 18 Member Lunch will feature crockpot stew and other great fixings for just $4. Reserve a spot by calling (928) 472-9290. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Picnic in the Park

The Senior Circle will be having its annual Picnic in the Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches and all the potluck side dishes members can conjure up. The event will be held at Rumsey Park, ramada 5. Sign up now by calling (928) 472-9290.

September Day Trip

The bus is filling up fast for the Sept. 29 day trip to the La Posada Hotel, the “last great railroad hotel.” La Posada was a unique cultural experience for the Southwest traveler in 1929 for the Santa Fe Railway. La Posada is one of America’s treasures. Enjoy lunch and a tour by one of the “Harvey Girls.” Trip will leave around 8:30 a.m. from Payson and return around 4 p.m. The $45 per person fee for the trip includes both the lunch and the tour. Discount program

Payson Florist and Gifts is the newest member of the Senior Circle Merchant Program. The owner, Marilyn Dedman, is a longtime resident and business owner in Payson. The florist is located at 800 N. Beeline, next to LaSierra Mexican Restaurant in Swiss Village. She is offering Senior Circle members a 10 percent discount, however, it is not valid on “wire out” floral orders or already discounted items.
