Ranger Fire burns on near Blue Ridge

The 120-acre Ranger Fire is still burning the Blue Ridge Reservoir. Smoke from the lightning caused fire is visible from Highway 87, Clints Well, the Mogollon Rim and Mormon Lake, the Coconino National Forest reported Friday.

Two things I do not like to do: One is to write (letters to the editor) and the other is to engage in politics. But in this case, I have to make an exception. I have known Colt White for about six or seven years. I know that is not a long time, but in the law enforcement community, it is plenty long enough to establish an opinion about someone.

This is not a campaign endorsement for Colt White, even though I think he would make a very good constable. It is a request for people to carefully consider the content of their letters and the impact they have in such a small town. The issues mentioned in the mean-spirited letter regarding Colt White were untrue and irrelevant to the position of constable.
