We’re voting for Kevin Christensen as Gila County constable on Aug. 24, because a competent, professional constable is important to Gila County.
We’re not going to confuse law enforcement experience with the duties required of the county constable. We don’t want to discredit the achievements of other candidates, as they are admirable achievements; however, they don’t apply to the constable position.
A constable makes the cogs of the justice machine turn. He or she is not hired to arrest criminals or conduct investigations. Instead, our constable needs to efficiently and effectively serve legal process.
That means, among other things, serving subpoenas, writs, and orders of protection and injunction. In addition, the constable is usually required to manage jurors and juror pools.
All of these tasks require management and leadership skills. Experience in law enforcement is not a prerequisite. But the ability to execute a budget, manage an office, and work with people is critical.
That’s why we’re supporting someone with a huge amount of private business experience, Kevin Christensen. He has run his own business successfully for years. If you know Kevin, you know he’s honest, hardworking, and easy to work with. That’s what we’re looking for in a constable.
This job requires the ability to work with the taxpayers of Gila County.
It requires experience with budgets and ability to manage a work force.
Kevin Christensen does these in the private sector, and does them well.
That’s why we’re voting for Kevin on Aug. 24.
