The Arizona Department of Transportation will reduce State Route 260 to one lane, 15 miles east of Payson, from 6 a.m. to noon on Monday, Aug. 23.
Crews will shift concrete barriers to align with a newly paved detour and then switch traffic onto the detour.
The detour will provide a safe work zone as construction continues to transform a two-lane segment of State Route 260 to a four-lane divided highway. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2011.
Drivers should be prepared to stop and wait for up to 20 minutes until a pilot car guides them through the work zone. Speed limits are reduced and a width restriction of 10 feet is in place.
Information regarding the project is available on the toll-free project hotline at (877) 521-1118.
