Kirkpatrick staff in Payson
In an effort to ensure that voices from across the district can be heard in Washington, staff members for the office of Representative Ann Kirkpatrick will be hosting open office hours in Payson from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the Board of Supervisors Office, 610 E. Highway 260.

Thrift store sale
Dresses, skirts and lamps will be on sale for one-half off the marked prices Aug. 25 through Aug. 28 at the Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store, 3916 N. Highway 87 in downtown Pine. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Blood drive
The Mazatzal Hotel & Casino’s Summer Blood Drive is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 25 in the Fireside Room. The hotel and casino is at Highway 87 Mile Marker 251.
If you cannot donate blood, please help us get the word out regarding this life-saving mission. Clothing distribution
Kaitie’s Closet will be distributing free clothing from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Rim Country Middle School.

Community Chest Golf Tournament registration deadline extended
The Community Chest Golf Tournament will be held on Aug. 29 at Chaparral Pines. Deadline for registration has been extended to Aug. 26. The entry fee is $95 for Rim Club and Chaparral Pines members and $125 for non-members. The fee includes golf, a dinner reception and prizes. Each player may bring a guest to the dinner reception for $25.
The tournament benefactors are the Gracie Lee Haught Children’s Fund, Kiwanis and Friends of Payson Parks and Recreation.

Book and gift sale
Select from hundreds of new books and gifts at the “Books Are Fun” Fair, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26 and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27 in the Payson Regional Medical Center main lobby.
Proceeds from the sale will go to support the many programs and scholarships offered by the Mogollon Health Alliance. For more information, call (928) 472-2588.
New pediatrician answers questions
Payson’s newest pediatrician, Dr. Matilda Garcia, will hold a special program at the Payson Medical Outreach Center (the Senior Circle building) at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26.
Garcia will talk about “getting your kids off to a healthy start this school year.”
This is a great opportunity to meet Dr. Garcia and get questions answered at no charge.
Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to the Senior Circle office at (928) 472-9290. The facility is at 215 N. Beeline Highway.
