Purr-Fect Time To Adopt A Kitten

Well, the kittens are ready! We have any type of kitten you can imagine! And they are all ready to start their new life in a loving, forever home.

It couldn’t have happened at a better time as we still have our end-of-summer special going. All kittens are only $50 during the special, and that includes their spay or neuter and first shots, as well as a microchip. It’s a great deal for approved adopters.

We do ask that all our kittens go to inside-only homes. We feel this is the only option because, as we all know, your neighbor really doesn’t want your cat in their yard, not to mention the many dangers that await a cat outside in an unsupervised environment. Many cats find their way into shelters each year because they wander and are either picked up by someone who thinks they are lost or are trapped by a disgruntled neighbor.

If you come to the shelter this weekend and don’t find the kitten you’re looking for, don’t worry. We have quite a few that are waiting to finish their health clearance, or get big enough for surgery. We also have at least one beautiful litter in foster homes.

One of these litters will be featured in next week’s article. They are a darling group of kittens who have been with their foster mother since they were still so little they had to be fed by a bottle. They had to be taught to be clean, litter-box trained, good feline citizens by her as well.

Fostering is such a rewarding adventure, especially when you know that your babies are going into a home where they will be an important member of the family and well loved and cared for. So be sure and tune in next week for the story of “The Gremlins in my extra bedroom.”

If you would like to meet any of the beautiful cats and kittens we have available for adoption or would like to be a foster parent or one of the wonderful volunteers who make life possible for all the animals at the shelter, please call (928) 474-5590, look us up on the web at www.humanesocietycentralaz.org or just stop in any day, 7 days a week (except major holidays), from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 812 S. McLane Road.

Aero is a 2-year-old medium-haired male black cat. He got his name because he was picked up here in town on Aero Drive. This handsome guy has been neutered, is current on his shots and has passed his health tests. He is a friendly guy who gets along well with other cats and people of all ages.

Flower is an 11-week-old female with two dark stripes running down her back. She and her two siblings were brought in as strays from Tonto Basin in July. Flower has passed her health tests, has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. She is a playful little girl who gets along with the other cats in her house and she loves to lay in your lap for some TLC.

This 3-year-old orange tabby beauty was found at the Gila County Maintenance Yard in July. We immediately noticed two things about her — she was very affectionate and friendly and she only had half a tail. We don’t know what happened to her tail, but it has healed fine and is kind of cute. Victoria has been spayed, is up to date on her shots and passed her health tests. She gets along with other cats and children, but we don’t know how she is with dogs.

Paul is a 10-week-old tuxedo-colored neutered male. He and his two siblings were brought in from a feral colony. Because of how young they were when they were brought in, we were able to socialize them and place them for adoption. He passed his health tests and is up to date on his shots. He is still a little shy, but rubbing his ears will have him purring in no time.

Camille is a gorgeous 3-month-old gray and white fluff ball. She is part of a litter that came in during July. She is spayed, current on shots and has passed her health tests. She is a typical, playful kitten who’s very cute and cuddly. She is a friendly little girl who knows how to use the litter box and is ready to find her forever home.

Sterling is a 3-month-old neutered male. He was brought in with a litter of kittens and their mom in July. He has passed his health tests and is up to date on his vaccines. Sterling is a playful kitten who is super friendly and knows how to use the litter box.
