Marilyn Hall and Larry Dunagan were sworn in as the newly elected Heber Overgaard Fire District Board members. Rogers Owens, who was also elected to the board, was not at Tuesday’s board meeting and will be sworn in at a later date.

The weather front we experienced in the early part of the week brought with it light snow with accumulations totaling 1 to 2 inches and winds around 30 to 40 miles per hour.

Once the weather front left us on Monday, we saw temperatures dipping into single-digit range. However, as this weekend approaches, our forecast is showing a warm-up.

The Heber Overgaard Fire District held a board meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 30 to discuss a range of subjects.

Navajo County Assessor Cammy Darris was invited and gave a presentation to inform the public regarding the valuation of property for the 2011 property tax assessments. Cammy explained the differences in the two valuations which include the “Full Cash Value” and the “Limited Value” and how those are used to levy the taxes to fund our public agencies.

She is available to give this presentation to other groups of people in Navajo County who are interested and can schedule an appearance with materials. Please contact her office at (928) 524-4095 for more information or to schedule an appearance.

Fire Chief Rich Upham presented the fire chief’s report to the board.

The board approved a contract of employment for Interim Deputy Chief Mike Brewer for the next year. It was also stated and agreed upon among the board that the contract will be under review annually and subject to renewal on the anniversary of the renewal date.
