Many residents and visitors have been observed out hunting and cutting their Christmas trees in the designated Christmas tree cutting areas off the Forest Service roads 504 and 300 in the last few weeks.
All permits issued by commercial vendors for cutting Christmas trees have been sold out for the designated areas of the Black Mesa Ranger district.
However, permits may still be available at the Black Mesa Ranger Station or by contacting the Forest Service directly at 928-333-4301 (Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests) or 928-527-3600 (Coconino National Forest).
