Big Brothers, Big Sisters Qualifies For Tax Credit

Recognition of the local nonprofit organizations that qualify for the Arizona Charity Tax Credit in Friday’s (Dec. 10, 2010) paper is very beneficial to the qualifying local organizations. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona has been a qualifying organization for several years. Our local program is part of that organization. We provide mentors to local youth who need someone to be their “big brother or big sister” and be a positive role model in their lives. These one-to-one relationships are professionally managed with proven results. We see improved school attendance, better behavior, and improved grades with the children in the program.

Locally, the program has grown from 15 matches four years ago to approximately 120 active matches today. The program has the support of the school district administration including the superintendent, all school principals, and the teachers who have children in the program. There is an active program in each school within the district.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona thanks all our local supporters of our efforts here in Payson. This includes our financial supporters, those who donate clothing through our collection bins around town, and our volunteer mentors who give of their time and energy to help a young person in our community.

I request those who are interested in supporting the good work we do to please consider donating to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona by utilizing the tax credit. Any contributions up to $200 per person or $400 for a couple filing jointly can qualify for this credit. Arizona Tax Form 321 is the correct form to claim this credit. All money donated can be directed to the Payson program by making a note on the check “for Payson Program” and mailing it to our local address: Big Brothers Big Sisters, P.O. Box 2956, Payson, AZ 85547. I can be reached at (928) 472-4600 if you need additional information or have any questions about how you can support Big Brothers Big Sisters here in Payson.
