Fight, Hit-Run Crash Mark Otherwise Quiet Weekend

On Dec. 12 the Gila County Sheriff’s Office made 12 traffic stops and received 44 calls, nine of them 911 calls. Deputies made six arrests of suspects booked into the Payson jail.

Incidents included:

2 a.m.: Deputies responded to the area of Gibson Ranch Road, Round Valley for report of a suspicious vehicle.

The Payson Police Department located and stopped the vehicle, investigated the occupants and deputies arrested David Powell, 20, of Payson, for false reporting to law enforcement, operating a motor vehicle under the age of 21 with alcohol in his system, and minor in the possession of a concealed weapon. They also arrested Lacee Hart, 18, of Payson, for false reporting to law enforcement and minor in possession of alcohol.

6:10 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence in Star Valley for a noise disturbance and arrested Danney Casey, 56, of Gilbert, for fighting and disruptive behavior.

4:41 p.m.: Deputies helped the U.S. Forest Service and Tonto Basin Fire Department on a medical call on Forest Service Road 143. Deputies arrested Wayne Thompson, 41, of Gilbert, for hit-and-run and lack of car insurance.

9:32 p.m.: Deputies responded to the area of Tonto Village for a report of a suspicious vehicle, but found nothing.

In other activity in the area, the Pine-Strawberry Fire Department responded to one medical call and the Tonto Basin Fire Department responded to one medical call and one fire call.
